Summer Sewing

I’ve been adding lots of stuff to the Ribbon Jar lately in anticipation of fall (and dare I say it holiday!) crafting. I am loving this super wide ric-rac so I thought it would be fun to do it around a big pillow.

I might go back around it and sew it a little closer together so just the points stick out, but I like it!

The back is a combo of vintage sheets from the swap I participated in and some kona cotton.
I am working on re-organizing the basement and I want to do a little pillow full reading area for Tuesday. I’m also thinking play kitchen and big set of blocks. Plus these awesome drawers for mama that I am picking up tomorrow. Wait… back to the sewing.
Sewing-7
I made Tuesday this little dress from another vintage sheet (actually I cut apart a pillowcase). I used a pattern out of this book, it has so many cute little things in it!
Sewing-4
I wanted to highlight some of our new pom pom trim (speaking of this could you please tell me what you think of how I took the pictures for the trim. I was trying something new since pom poms can’t be scanned).
Sewing-3
I found it much easier to sew on with a zipper foot. The other two ribbons are herringbone and pinstripe. Now it’s almost 100 outside so I think I’m going to go back to the sewing zone (aka the basement!).

  1. I will definately need to get some of that pom pom trim for my twin’s crib skirts. If only I knew what I was having so I could pick colors! Next month :). I love that little dress you made too.

  2. I can’t wait to see the spot you make for Tutu. We have a bar in our basement now that never ever gets used. We have been seriously thinking about ripping it out and making a corner for Miri with an art table and some built in book cases and a little play kitchen. 🙂 Who knows if it will ever get done or not, but it’s fun to plan!!

  3. Love all the new ribbon… The Super Wide Ric Rac is especially great on pillows… Remember the Cowboy ones I made? Showing the Pom Pom trim on the dress is a fabulous idea! Shows great!

  4. that pillow is awesome. love how colorful it is, and the ric-rac is the perfect finishing touch! i like the photos of the pom pom trim, looks great to me. and how adorable is it on the bottom of tuesday’s new dress?
hope you survived today (it hit 100 here), sounds like monday is going to be the worst of it. stay in sewing land where it’s cooler!

  5. OK again, you are the most awesomely creative person I know! Tuesday looks so super cute in her retro dress! Totally love the pom poms on the bottom. Whoever gets all of your hand me downs is going to hit the jackpot! Yikes on the weather, I think I would need to get a hotel room just for the AC if it was over 100 here. no joke.
