  • I’m not going to lie, my day is going from bad to crazier. One of THOSE days, you know mamas, right? I’m eating a lunch of natural cheetos and a full strength Tejava (yes, it’s after three!) as I try to muster a laugh that the garden center sold me cocoa shells instead of hazelnut and now my whole yard smells like chocolate, and not the beautiful flowers I’ve spent all summer tending. I would laugh excpet I have to get in my car later with three more bags of the stuff and the thought makes me want to gag. I guess it could have been worse, they could have sold me mac and cheese mulch with syrup. All I have to say is if this doesn’t keep the cats out of my yard I’m going to be the crazy person with a sprinkler shooting into the street to keep them away.
So I decided to edit the baby pictures I took, because hey, what can always make a day better? A baby (as long as it’s not my 21 month old keeping me up for FOUR AND A HALF HOURS last night).
We had the shower for Kathy just in time!
    Baby-5
Bj pointed out that he has a bianary birthday!
    Baby-1
    Proud papa.
    Baby-2
My favorite shot to do. I love that you can see the dirt under his nails. He barely made it to the hospital because he was farming ๐Ÿ™‚
    Baby-3
Little Grant you are so sweet! Love the curly hair.
    Baby-4
And of course my sweet friend and her baby.
It’s always an honor to me to visit a baby so new. I am always a bit weary of visiting so soon, because I believe bonding in the beginning is so important. So I made sure I stayed away at least a day and when Kathy texted me the day after to say again I should come visit I couldn’t say no. And I’m happy to say they are quite well bonded already and he is nursing well, way to go!
Now I’m off to make myself an ice cream sandwich. Don’t worry they’re organic cookies.

  • Today was a super busy totally fun day that involved swim lessons, chickens, a splash fountain, skinned knees, and long drives. But of course I took no pictures so I’m sharing some from a week ago.
    Beans-1
I got this tub of beans idea from Sew Liberated, who was a trained as a Montessori teacher and has lots of great ideas for the toddler set on her blog.
    Beans-2
IT’S SO EXCITING! We got the big bag of pintos from Costco and then added in a few small bags so she could pick out big and little beans.
    Beans-3
Good for dumping, pinching, and scooping practice. We had this under the bed bin left over from college and I’m glad it has a lid. When things start to go overboard (and she stops helping them go back in) we wave bye bye to the beans and put the lid back on. A note though, since I didn’t wash the beans I was shocked how dirty she got, especially the first few times. Makes me want to wash all my beans a little bit better!
Also, if you’ve asked me a question recently just wanted to mention that I do answer them in the comments section.

  • I had a fabulous weekend, and I hope you did too! Saturday after our toddler music class we drove to Corvallis for the fall festival. We got to hang out with Sarah who snapped this photo.
    Kiss-1
Ah my two loves! So sweet.
Sunday was the shower in honor of Kathy, who is due next month.
    Shower-2
Tracy and I threw it (she’s due on Valentine’s day, how cute is that?!?!).
    Shower-1
We played up the orange and green theme (colors of her nursery). We had faux-mosas (a hit!), cheese and crackers, orange and green fruit parfaits, and these:
    Shower-3
Little appetizers made from hollowed out cherry tomatoes (from our yard). Bj made these before and they are so good, though a bit tedious.
I love throwing parties, especially ones where I can get out the fancy dishes. What’s the last party you threw? I’m thinking I need to throw more of them!
