Since I was pretty productive on our scrap day I figured I’d spread the love over a couple of days. After my warm up layout I went a little crazy with this one:
I tired to do some layering, but I think maybe it was a little much. I am giving my self some bonus points for “vintage” product usage, can you spot the stuff that is at least seven years old?
Not this stuff, this was just one part I liked that I think really worked. I think I may journal more on the back because some of the story is missing (Tuesday always says, “woody! and Jessie too!”).
After that I decided I just wanted to play with paper. So I did a first for me, the whole layout, minus title/journaling, without knowing what photos I was going to scrap.
Then I just found photos that worked. I loved doing this, it was freeing! I wasn’t trying to match anything. And hey, I take so many photos something is bound to match, right?

And one of my favorites, about how much we love and miss aunt Sciarrino! The title really isn’t showing up well here, but it’s not so bad in real life. I actually like it being so subtle.
And there you have it, a pretty productive day! All that and I got a bunch of plants in the ground. Now if only the sun would come out…

Sarah and I often have scrap dates at my house and they are always a treat. Our fun time last weekend was no exception. I move a little folding table into my craft room (and the upholstered chair out) and we are quite comfy with all our supplies right at hand. My first layout is always a warm up, this time I used a sketch from the Sketchbook 3 class by Jamie Waters (oh how I love her style!).
It’s pretty much an exact copy, but I figured out something cool with the Silhouette while doing it. I wanted a whole bunch of hearts like she used, but I don’t have a heart punch in the right size/shape to do that. So I decided to try using a bunch of scraps on the carrier sheet at once.
And the result:
Not bad, just one miss. This was my second go at it. I didn’t realize the first time that the double line on the carrier sheet makes it so the grid doesn’t exactly match up in the computer program (off by 1/4″). Ya, my mat is a bit messed up. I’ve never gotten a new one, or a new blade. Silhouette needs to have a sale soon!!!

In our house hair things are called pretties. I don’t really know how that got started. Maybe when I was trying to convince Tuesday to wear them at the beginning and I oohed and awed over how pretty they looked in her hair? Not sure, but Tuesday has called hair barrettes, headbands, elastics and anything else you can put in there a pretty. After I saw this on Wee Wonderfuls I knew I had to try glue gun + buttons too.
A couple of tips. I used a high heat glue gun, I thought it was necessary for this project. Don’t skimp on the glue. They can pop apart so DO NOT give these to a little one that is still eating things. They most often fall apart when they are flipped opened and closed while cold. An easy solution is to hold them in your hand for a moment and warm them up before opening them. They will stay warm enough next to the head of course (I may try E6000 next time, but hot glue has it beat for instant gratification) If a button had a shank on it I used cheap wire cutters to clip it (kind of like this). I did the same thing with the brads I used (but of course). I nearly lost an eye. I know everything says to wear safety goggles, but I really would or at least close your eyes while you make the cut.
