Just a Plain old Happy Day

Today just seems to be filled with sunshine and happiness. Yuck, I kind of sound like a greeting card, but if you can get past that, read on… Today I woke up before my alarm to birds chirping (and a little bit of the highway traffic noise) because I slept with my window open for the first time this spring. If there is any chance of rain I can’t do that because it comes pouring onto my window seat. And then it was sunny this morning, Sciarrino mentioned it was going to rain this afternoon, but guess what, it’s still hasn’t and it’s after five!!!  Then this morning I got a ridiculous amount of stuff done. I ran errands with my iPod and listened to my music really loud. And I know I already wrote a

My desk, has anyone ever seen it this clean!!! The best part of this is that I worked all day and now have time to create a little. I have a feeling I will be very productive tonight.

beautiful. As is this:

Blank Canvas(es)

Img_0422So my computer had to get wiped clean. Which took for freaking ever. Luckily I have a boy genius for a boyfriend and he managed to install OS X on his iPod (!!!) and restart my computer on that then hack into the hard drive and grab all my info (thank God!). After he got everything though we had to start from scratch. While things were downloading and installing Bj got good at his PSP and I cleaned my room. Now I have a blah desktop and all my settings have been reset, but that can be fixed. The good news is the computer runs as fast as the day I got it, which is smokin! I also got the box of blank Elmer journals. I covered one already (I’ll scan it in and post it below). I think this is Elmer journal number 12 or 13. It’s been a while since I’ve really collaged anything (I used to do this to ever single thing I owned in high school). I got to know my contact paper again. I also got some awesome ribbon catalogs and swatch cards that make me want to drool. Well hopefully tomorrow will go a lot more smoothly!

Front
This is the back. I used a postcard from this Nick Bantock set. I have so so many postcards but I love some of them so much I find them hard to send, this is something I’m working to overcome. The little alp definition thing is from my graduation announcements. They were designed by Sciarrino to look like slang flashcards from Knock Knock. This is the back of the "alp" one (there was also "osu" and "grad"). I used a tiny smidgen of Making Memories paper. The back of an old postcard I bought from an antiques store because of the ridiculous small writing. The sticker from my Juicy Couture bag, and a die cute thingie from Autumn Leaves.

I like these new journals. I was a little weary that they changed them a bit, but I checked and it doesn’t look like the pages are too perforated so they probably won’t just tear out on accident. And the little manila pocket in the front is pretty awesome. Plus they are they same size and the paper inside is exactly the same, so I really can’t complain. Hope you’re all being crafty. Oh speaking of that on Attack of the Show they had those paper things like Kay sent me (see this post). Only they were totally insane and took like 80 hours to put together. Check this out. The motorcycle takes like 200 hours to build or something. Look if anyone makes one of these you must email me so I can see it, I mean, I was proud of my Miffy!

Oh no, the mac is down!!

My baby, my G5, my favorite thing to stare out in the whole world… won’t turn on, ahhhhhhhhhhhh! Well I should say it turns on and then just does nothing. Now this was no big deal for me when I had a PC because that friggin happened all the time (hence the change), but now, no no no. Okay well it’s really no big deal because there are a few other computers in this house (Bj’s G4 and powerbook and my new iMac), but still, it’s a little unsettling. Beeg says he’s going to work on it first thing in the morning, so cross your fingers for me. Now onto my day:

I just have a little point and shoot so it’s not perfect, but hey.

Sorry Bj, I had to.

But he got to have fun on the rest of our drive. People, there is nothing like hearing bj sing to Gwen’s Hollerback Girls, "This shit is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S" So funny, so cute. And I don’t even like that song that much (though it is growing on me). Bj was talking about some ric rac ribbon I’m getting and he calls it "wiggly ribbon." I just loved that. Okay so then I looked down at my foot and realized that the toenails I had just painted had a little chip, bummer right? Well no actually take a look:
Img_0411

Bj says I should sell it on eBay as my lucky toenail (like this guy did after a football player steped on his foot and it turned all green and then he started winning poker everywhere). But I would rather my toenail stay on my foot.

So we did other stuff besides driving around (which was expensive, damn gas prices!!!). Bj got a PSP. After a few tries he ended up getting one at Target, where I scored some more cute stuff (the Salem one is way more stocked than the Albany one): mini strong magnets, colored staples (.99), and this cool accordion note holder (so going to embellish that). The best score of the day though, was at this way random place in Salem that I have had a gift certificate at forever (I am so bad at spending these, and I don’t know why). I never got around to going there, but Bj talked me into it (the catalogs had been in the back seat for like a year, oops). Anyway the place was freaking AWESOME (thanks uncle Brad and aunt Pam)! I’ll make some stuff with the assorted papers I got there and post them up later. Then of course I had to buy something I totally didn’t need (but I can justify it). I was getting my mom an armband (happy You’re Fabulous Day Mom!!) for her new iPod (Bj decided he didn’t actually need three). And I saw these right next to them, and well, you’ll see:

iPod socks!!!!! Holy Crapola. So much cuter than they looked online, so I just had to, and it comes with 6 so they match everything!

WalMart hates prego Midge!

Whoa, who knew: Barbie’s Pregnant Friend Yanked. And she’s been married and has one kid already, but still WalMart said it gave kids the "wrong idea." That’s so weird, considering she wears a wedding ring and everything (I checked mine, I never noticed it before, but she does have a little ring painted on). You may already know that I find WalMart to be really disgusting in almost every way so this is just icing on the cake. It’s called open sex education people and it’s good. This just leaves me so puzzled. I think people should be more upset that the husband is out flying a kite with the little kid while she gives birth. hmm. Well I’ll leave you with a sunny thought:

My girls finally have a Ken

Img_0380
I don’t know how this happened. I have five barbies, and not from my childhood! But seriously I can’t help it. I mean toys are so cheap (compared to adult toys like the PSP). Oh and then I just get stuck on one and I want it so bad. And I just start thinking, hey I’m adult, I can buy what I want and I get one! Ah well, they make me happy. So from left to right. Ken, just got him today. He’s go blond movable hair (my Ken didn’t have that when I was Little), that feels like it has been hair sprayed to death. Bj says his shirt is lame and wanted me to get a Blaine, but I like this guy’s shorts. Then I have my Elle from Legally Blond 2. Bj got this one for me after I saw it online with the little dog, I was freaking out. Then there is the pregnant Midge. I was almost crying at Toys R’ Us when I first saw this doll. The very pregnant Midge is wearing platforms and as soon as her baby and stomach are removed (they are held on by magnet) she is like way too skinny. But the best part? On the back of the box it talked about how Barbie was her baby doctor, and that Ken was at the park with their three year old while she was giving birth. You can even get the Ken and son with a kite! LOL Nice things to teach boys, huh? Then we have another one from today, Lea. She is scented, I kid you not. She smells like sunscreen and the beach, it’s awesome. And her feet are not ever going to be shoved into too high of heals, even her toenails are painted! My favorite is my Malibu Barbie. This is a remake of the old school Malibu (the difference? This one comes with sunscreen). This was my varsity 4’s little sun goddess. We brought her in the boat for good weather luck (love the rain in Oregon, but not when I am laying down in the bow of a boat!). And isn’t her outfit awesome? That was in my stocking last year, a little hand knit Parisian number. You go Malibu!

Okay so I don’t know why all the Barbies but I love changing their outfits. It’s weird because when I was little I liked my American Girl Doll Kirsten the best. Even in the little doll category Ginny Dolls where my favorite. They are these adorable little chubby girl dolls and they have the best fashion. I kind of just went crazy today and put a bunch of their cute clothes on my wish list on Amazon, so you can check out how cute they are. Speaking of cute, I snapped these of Bj today, I just love that guy:

Again with the camera?  Why yes, I just can’t help myself.

Can it.

I called my dad earlier this week to ask him if he would help me build a rack for all the ribbon that is showing up at my office. He said, "Actually I wanted to ask you if you would help me build something." Me: "Okay… what?" "A tractor out of cans." Oh right, why didn’t I think of that?  Well I did help and the above is proof of our efforts (I actually did little compared to the rest of the people who were there from LCG Pence). Anyways I helped him and then he helped me with the ribbon rack. I spent the rest of the day working on this project for the Ribbon Jar. It was such an awesome idea, I’m just finding out it will take lots of work, but hey, I’m up for a challenge! Driving this morning was so gross. Yesterday on the way to Salem there were tons of wrecks, not today. Today we had what I like to think of as the hard core Oregon drivers. Now normally I don’t comment on the rain, because what’s the point, we have it all the time, boring. This morning it was pretty bad though. Surprisingly this brings out good drivers in Oregon. Especially on Saturdays when it’s mostly just people who are driving because they want to get somewhere not because they have to get somewhere (like work). These hard core drivers like to prove that they no how to drive in the rain so, no one slows down and no one looses control. I have to say everyone is very nice on the road when it rains, I do not find this to be the case in all parts of the country. I’ve been places where rain is not normal, and it’s raining, and people are acting like it’s the end of the world. I find that very annoying. On my way home it was absolutely beautiful, sunny, and green, green, green. Compare:

ew this is the morning, that cloud was like, way darker in real life.
Img_0366
Isn’t that pretty? I think so. I don’t want you to think I don’t like the rain, because baby I do!

Okay and I came home, walked up to my room and saw this:

Look my little snowman has a tulip!  There was a whole bunch on my desk, but I thought this was just the cutest. Bj always puts my little guys like that when he makes my bed. I’ve been wanting flowers forever, thanks sweetie!

Worlds Away

Bj and I drove to Salem tonight to have dinner at my mom’s. My little step brother Taylor was there, as were my step sister in law, Coralia, and my cute little niece Brianna, who’s four. Her Dad, my step brother, Aaron, is over in Iraq. My other step brother, Allen, is working in Japan (he’s the same age as me). We were all sitting around talking. I love our family dinners because it seems like my family is really good at talking about everything. Well today we hit on a bunch of topics including piercings and tattoos. After talking about it was said to Brianna, "Never get a tattoo, okay?" She had just been walking her Fisher Price Little People around the table and wasn’t really paying attention. She’s like, "okay." Then we kind of started talking about something else and she said, "I got a tattoo when I was little, it was sparkly and somebody gave it to me, and it had a mouse dancing (or something like that can’t remember)" So my mom said, "Well glittery ones are okay." She replied, "Ya, it came off in the bath." He he he, so funny. I meant to get a picture but totally spaced it. Aaron called Coralia while they were there, it’s cool she gets to talk to him every couple of days. I feel very honored that he has a slang card (see
It was taken at a girl’s school after a drop off from operation crayon. Aren’t they the cutest happiest looking little people? I’ve been thinking that the world is so big and so small at the same time right now, it’s easy to think that way with so many of my friends and family all over. Scotland, England, Denmark, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, all over the United States, I miss you all!  Thank goodness we live in an age where we can keep in touch. Love and Peace where ever you are!

Knife Wound

First of all did you know that wound ("That wound is from an accident with scissors, I was jumping on the bed, long story") and wound (I wound the red string around my finger and I STILL forgot your birthday!") are spelled the same? What is UP with the English language?  They definitely did not consult me! Okay, so sorry about the rant.
ClipsI love Sciarrino (I don’t think many other people would take things like this so well)! Okay now enough with the fun, she does need help. No not with her head. She needs to find more of this tiny paper clip:  The tiny one is the one she wants, the big one is a regular Clipola so you can compare. We know it’s not Making Memories, and I don’t think it’s 7 Gypsies either. It was bought a while ago and she got some of these as a gift and doesn’t have the original packaging. So if you know where to get these mini guys, please let us know (they are for wedding invitations).

*Edited to add: that is an I heart apple shirt, not baby, as Sciarrino originally thought.
